Hey Bear, yeah made it across to NZ. :D

We're moving into our new place tomorrow and Sunday. Very happy to be here. Been very hectic and stressful but things are starting to settle down now.

Regards, Martin.

Thanks for this thread Bear, I was going the ~50cm high GB with flood and drain like yours, I was advised it might not work and to use syphons and 30cm high GBs.
I thought I had a load more work to do when I got back home, thanks to you I shall stick with the original plan and save time and money!

Hi Tang, I have had no problems with my system running as it is. Took a bit to get it where I was happy and these days just check the sump, PH and can not remember the last time I tested the water.

Running a 10k litre, 120 watt pump @ 2 metre head 1 hour on and 1/2 hour of. Could properly fine tune it more but why touch something which is working. Cheers

Last week I transferred water from the RAS tank with the Jade fingerlings in. After awhile I came back and one fingerling had swim bladder problems so it became chook food.

Went down this morning and found this fellow floating dead as a door nail. Weight was 60 g, length 140 mm. No markings on him. Checked salt and increased to 3 ppt in both systems. PH gauge is acting crazy in that tank and I can not tell the colours. Will give the gauge another go later on. They were just starting to come on the feed again after winter. Had some fat inside but not a great deal.

Hi Charlie, no rain worth recording mate would like a bit in the tanks but expect to be in for a hot dry summer.

@BF thanks for the phone call mate, had started salting and back to just over 3 ppt in the RAS and about 2 ppt in the main system before I ran out. At the airport waiting for the boss so will pick some up tonight or in the morning and top both systems up. Will take the RAS up to 6 ppt and hope its not the same problem you had.

Water in both systems has dropped back to 18 c over the last couple of days. Not sure why as the days have been good and the nights are not that cold. See what the temps are in the morning and may rig a hose out front for a bit of warm water. Cheers

Weather has been hot the last couple of days. We had 42C here today and every thing is suffering including me. Too early for this high heat. At lest it has bought the temperature in the two systems up. Main tank was 23c and the RAS was 21c. Large storm has just passed to the north and we a getting a little bit of rain, every little bit helps for the tanks. Cheers
