Just trying a different method...
240V Coolroom compressor adapted to a "Highly Modified" vehicle evaporator coil and TX valve setup.

What could possibly go wrong?? :dontknow:

:laughing3: :laughing3: Murphy's law!!!! Make sure you keep the thread updated with the new tank..

I must admit that the chilly tank figures are not capable of maintaining the water temp during normal Flood and drain cycles, but require some thought and control on hot days and possibly only circulating only at nights. this is the reason why I still need the sump, so during hot day I can circulate water from sump to GB to keep plants happy while chilly tank can maintain temp for fish. Obviously foreseeing hot days ahead I will cut back the feed so that conditions in tank can be controlled...

I really think your system would benefit from a "Matching Pair" of refrigerated tanks... :D

UP DATE...
Well haven't really updated for a bit.
Basically I penetrated the floor of the freezer in 2 spots. 1 for the SLO and the 2nd for the flow into the tank so i do not have to cut up the freezer.
Next time I'll be far more careful before I cut into a freezer... If anyone else is thinking bout doing this all I can say is be very careful and try not do what I did... check out the photo's
I thought the condenser went around the outside of the freezer as it was hot when I test ran it, but it seems that it only runs through the sides once, then the rest is through the base.
anyway after i managed to repair it and charge it back up I tested it with the controller and all was good.
Currently I have a drain pump pumping back into my 2nd AP system, sending the FT water through its GB's, this pump is on a timer at 4 times per 24 hour. My fill pump turns on via a float switch that I hooked up. this pump sits in the Sump of my 2nd system.
All this worked well for a temporary set up till I can get the GB on line.
I have 2 air stones in the tank and air pump is ran off solar system and batteries.
Did i mentioned that I went for a drive last weekend to Buxton and picked up 50 more trout.
now the chilly tank has around 20 - 25 trout. :shifty:
started to pull down the dig garden tonight where the other freezer/ GB is going...

regards
matt

Put the stumps in for the plateform over the sump tank...
Got a bit of digging to do :(
Feeding Trout 1-2 times a day and always feed well. timer for pump is only on for 30min 4 times a day. conditions are good.

Guy's
I planning on building a Merbau deck over my sump tank, but I'm a little worried about the stain getting into the water and causing all sorts of problems with the system or even killing the fish..

has anyone had any first hand experience or can offer some advice??

regards
Matt

Quick update.

thanks to you guys who directed me towards the modwood decking.
I ended up using the Ecodeck? because it was the only stuff at the hardware. cost a packet$$$ I only had enough $$$ the purchase 1/2 the deck but enough the mount the GB and pipe up from the FT to GB.

washed about 400L of rock and circulating water between GB and sump,
using water from one of the other system to help speed up the cycling process.

sorry about the picture, its dark

regards
Matt
