Thank you for your incredible insight into my thread Rupe. As always... you are nothing.... but an amazing.... contributor.

Given no ones been reading this thread, I hadnt looked at the pics for a while. i'll fix them when I update next week.

If anyone is interested, i'm keeping all my photos in one of these two PUBLIC folders. Much easier to link from photobucket than upload 3 at a time here backwards. plus I dont have to manually resize them if they dont fit the forum requirements.

So.. the missing ones are in the "top level" directory/folder.... {orc_muther}....

Not in either of the subfolders above...

Or at least were.... when you posted them...

So what is the solution to the fatty fish?
Do we need to put in some fish (hamster) wheels ?
Or maybe a strong jet of water ?

Jades are naturally fatty.... which makes them great for BBQing, grilling, smoking...

In fact they're the highest Omega-3 fish in the world... and have high Omega-6 ...

Jades store their fat for the lean times, you have to remember they come from outback Qld and most times the rivers do not flow. The jade eats as much as it can while food is available and stores all the fat to use when the food sourse is low.

Before eating you may be best to cut right back on their food for a couple of weeks to force them to use their fat reserve.

they are just starting to eat again after winter, so I was planning on pulling a couple before they get back onto the food properly. but they are a pain in the ass to catch. and I dont wanna stress them too much before the weather really warms up.

perhaps this weekend i'll put in a bit more effort to get a couple out. they are damn near two years old now, its about time I ate more of them.

Not sure how similar they are to SP orcy but Ive noticed mine can handle a fair bit of 'stressing' unlike trout. Muzza posted a vid on catching fish that I thought was pretty good and a fairly stress-less way to catch them. Cant remember the thread title but maybe search his posts.

Charlie, i've got a big piece of bird netting in the back room, I think i'll be alright.

though at the end of the day, it appears I wont be able to get any more Jades until at least late november at this stage, so theres no rush.

I had a preference because Jades were available at the time i wanted. I'd love to try some silvers, but as yet, havent had a chance to get any. I've also read that its hard to get them over 300g.

My silvers that are just over two years old are 700g plus. I will let you know how big they are after this summer, but will have to cull a few :D
