I adjusted the length of the stand pipe today because I was getting some salt deposits on the media.

I have a 40mm standpipe running CF. Whenever I'm home though I use the valve to turn off the water going into the FT. This way I have a a semi-timed system as well.

Thought I would add a short video showing my standpipe. I stole the idea from this forum and am pretty happy with the aeration I'm getting going into the sump.

Looking alright?

Check your testing! I saw this video and rechecked my test and found I had nitrates in the high range. The same as the person in the clip did?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1DrY4Qaj5Y

make sure you do your test right! And you wont be doing the wrong things to make it worse! There are three other clips that explain fully how to do your test correctly. On the API test kit. That is. Good luck,

Thanks for the links blizzard.

Very useful tips that I hadn't heard before.

I followed her procedures and got these numbers.

Day 32

pH : 8.0
Ammonia : 0
Nitrite : 0.5
Nitrate : 0

Have I missed the nitrate spike? Is it still coming?

Looking at stocking more fish at the end of the month. Will they be ok?

No if your levels are that low that means your plants are using it all. You may need to add sea sol.

Mine are a little higher as I add the aquarium water once per week. My system is 1300ltr. Plus I have a 200ltr aquarium for holding the next fish till the time is right. ATM. Just the old goldfish, but I will be getting some trout before February. I think a little different than the rest on here, and they don’t like it! As I will try anything I can think off to make it better for me. So far I have got it down pat.

good luck with your new habit bazington.

I have my system just feet away. While sitting here at my desk.

Life’s good!
:D
