U busted me rupe! i just wanted to sound all intelligent and shit ;) It was a pre-fab'ed module from jaycar, mean as a dimmer for resistive and inductive loads (sorry for the jargon). Can be used well on universal motors (drills hair dryers and basically anything GMC ;)

NOT really meant for start capacitor motors, but instructions said that it MAY work. Most of the motorrs i deal with a permanent split pahse (240V) with a run capacitor, and almost evey ducted heater has a spped control on the control board for this motor.

Steve-o's motor is of the same type so i'll give it a go and report back.

i'm fairly sure it just chops the sine wave to give reduced power. Versus other means................

Chop the sine wave at the peak and i guess you have 50% RMS voltage.

Straight reduction in voltage DEFINATLY won't work with most AC motors i think even a 20% voltage drop causes them to over heat.

Steve

Yeah, you've got to get the spelling right! Double "ff" if you don't mind. Jaymie, I am Ange and Reetz's sister.

They tried the poached eggwhite but didn't like it. Harry and Victor (two two convict chiclids in there) did like the poached eggwhites though. ;)
