New Dwc plumbing update. Was running a 12 v pump to supply water from sump but has been a real pain in the butt. Keeps blocking up being so small.

Re directed one of the grow bed drains to the dwc today in place of the pump that continues to block up. The fall from the bed is not great but is enough to give the dwc constant water supply. I kick myself for not doing the KISS principle first off. No.. Let's be fancy with a 12v pump, a solar panel and battery... I could have saved some bucks using my head.

My system had its 2-Month birthday yesterday so thought to update a pic. Eating lettuce, beans, squash and zucchini and soon to be corn and tomatoes. Plenty of bug issues we are working on... I hate aphids!!

Try BUGS FOR BUGS Madcap, the lacewing are a good alternative to folier sprays such as garlic/chilli spray which is a day to day excersize and gets anoying.

Yes have 50 jades in 1000lt. I do have approx 1500lt of grow beds and lots of additional air. New grow bed in next week.

My water quality is very good so far. Try not to over feed and the mrs is home all day to watch for any HSM's.

Will only be growing them to plate size of approx 500gr max.

I'll let you know if it is a stupid idea in the future. :).

Silvers might.. but Jades can be a lot more uniform....

Personally I think the "grow at different rates" argument is a bit of a furphy...

You might get the odd bolter and/or runt.... but once they get above 300-400 gms... they're all pretty similar...

And the problem with that approach.. is often people don't eat them until they're around 500gm+...

And by the time they're around 500gm... you'll be at, or exceeding your filtration capacity...

Thanks Rup, I am always very conscious of the major contributors to this site who are much more experienced than I am. I will work towards some more filtration or even spark up a second system and move some of the jades across.

I was planning on less fish but it obviously went awry!
