Thank you Martin always a pleasure to hear from you and its good that my 2,000 post is a reply to you as well. Man I have to get of my fat A and do some work.

On lighter note we had some rain last night but only brief showers. Grass all wet so unable to mow. Will do a further change over in the RAS today, maybe only 300 litres but it helps to bring the 'rites and the rest down until I have the modifications to the Bio filter done.

Getting a bit of rain here too, Bear. Had a trip planned to go to Rock Creek Dam and Minyon Falls, will postpone for now. Been hammering the bushland down the back over the last few days clearing it out so a day inside might be on the cards.

p.s. Congrats on 2000 posts, I trust there will be many more to come.

Thanks Charlie, glad you are getting some progress in cleaning the back area. Sooner its done the sooner you can get your system going. Could start with a simple IBC at the back door with kitchen herbs. Cheers

Looking at those Silverbeet, they look almost like shiny plastic plants!!!

Amazing how well plants do in AP.

Mr Bill you are correct there , both the silverbeet and lettuce were seedlings planted just before I left for the SA trip.

Weather has been cooling down here, been to 2c and the fish tanks were on 14c. Overcast cool and a cold constant breeze today.

The daughter is down from Darwin for a week before heading to Adelaide for a bit of time with the long distance boyfriend. She is feeling the cold here but will be colder in SA. Decided on fish tonight for her and as they are not taken the line we went with the net. Very easy to catch in the cold water, bit of a surprise to me. Pulled out two, one @ 680 g and the other @ 620 g. A good feed for the three of us.

Both systems doing ok with PH at 6.5 and salt at 3ppt. Fish have not been eating so only throw a bit in every few days and remove if still floating after 15 minutes. Do this about 3 pm when the sun has been on the tank all day. Planted some more Cos lettuce, Bok Cho, Kale and sugarloaf cabbage.

Take care cheers

+1 - Be a long while before any of my fish reach that size (oh wait their Bluegill, guess they never will  )

Hey Bear, I've almost got the RAS up and running. Just need to figure out the venturis and get the pipe work for the pump figured out (fingers crossed  ). Had some problems with the drains from the filters but I think it sorted now - leak test tomorrow.

Cheers

Have you posted any photos yet scotty, I added a stand pipe inside my RAS sump barrel. Keeps the water at level I want in the bio but can now keep less water in the sump. Helps when it comes to setting up the trickle filtration. Cheers

Hi Charlie, thank you just finished and very pleased with the end results.

Done one with slices of fresh lime and tangello. Both very juicey, just laid the slices on the bottom and top as well as the belly cavity. Poured extra juice over the top and wrapped in foil. Set the oven on 170 c for 40 minutes. Will set it on 180 c next time.

The other one had chillie and lemon grass with fresh ginger from the garden and plenty of a rice roll dipping sauce. This was made with rice wine vinegar, brown sugar and spring onions.

Both fish has cuts to the bone about 25 mm apart. Topped of with fresh egg plant quick fried in balsamic vinegar and pumpkin, potatoe and carrots dice to 10 mm square and lightly oiled. Baked in the oven for 10 min longer than the fish. Nice and crunchy.

Certainly will be done again, cheers

Your recipes sound fabulous and I will be stealing those at some stage, Bear. One question, was there much fat content in the gut cavity (out of interest), cheers
