the water was really warm.....I don't have a temp gauge...but when i was doing a water test this afternoon...its felt really really gross......if the water at the beach was that warm....I wouldn't even bother going in...nearly as warm as a spa

And remember Jessy.... you've got 200+ hungry ammonia breathing Barramundi in there...

As C1 said... how are your growbeds... and plant numbers.... you've upped your load on the growbeds quite substantially in the last week or so ....

That warm... ease your feed.... pump continuously... and aerate.... maybe even a small water change every day if it stays warm... say 10%.... until the growbeds catch up...

What's your pH.... anything between 6.5 -7.2 will actually provide a buffer from an ammonia spike.... at that sort of water temp ...

Kewl... they'll suck the nitrates when the baccies stabilise.... give it a chance... watch your feed and aeration... and don't get complacent about water temp... DO falls significantly in warm water ... (see my thread  )

Because the systems already cycled... an ammonia spike can be almost un-noticed... it's generally the nitrite spike that you'll see while the system rebalances...

I remember outback ozzie, telling me atcthe start of my system, to pump as little as possible through the day, and then pump all night to take the temp out of the water and the heat from the clay....but Kalgoolie has a different weather pattern to here....we are experiencing a late summer....normally it is well over 40 this time of year, and close to 50 in January and Feb.....2.30 am can be around 34 t 36 oC..........

Might Have to order yet ANOUTHER air pump from BYAP as a back up..as the other two back ups are all in use

And the nitrites in the last 45 minutes have dropped from 1.0 down to 0.50... water temperature is affecting it hugely , because the water has defently cooled off......its a bit of a mind boggle ATM for me.......

Your growbeds will act like giant heatsinks in summer.... that's the thinking behind what OBO was suggesting....

By pumping through the growbeds during the day... you're adding more heat to the system water each pass... whereas at night the growbeds are cooler than the tank water... and exchange heat....

Not sure that it's what I'd recommend... especially with your temps.... I'd certainly suggest shade clothing your growbeds... if you haven't already...

P.S ... your nitrite spike might be dropping off anyway... as the bacteria are doing their thing... and you're not feeding them at the moment...
