Nice one F&F. I was hoping you'd get that water broken down but scientists and labs are expensive. Pull those favours!

Your theory is probably right F&F, but I wouldn't totally rule out some type of impurity in the swimming pool salt. This is what concerns me about using this stuff, which although meant to be pure is not subject to the same scrutiny as eating stuff.

Rupe, if you see a mass spectrometer on ebay can youn post it on the forum for us?

Maybe Gnash's missus could loan you one.

Sorry 'bout the losses.

Betwen your misadventure and the subsequent clean up, your beneficial bacteria have probably taken a beating.

I read very recently (and I wish I could remember where) about aquarium folk using ammonia (of the bottled type) to effect a very quick start up (like a week) in their systems.

Steve's probably the one to ask about it.....but it may get you going again quicker.

VB, dunno, he's used a whole bag of the stuff before. the two things that were different on the day before, were another handfull of the salt, or flooding and runn off of the water from the greenhouse that did have pestiside residues.........

Okay - I have misunderstood. I thought he had used a few handfuls previously but increased the dose to 4ppt that day.
