Hey metal, I had the same thing with the sweet corn I have in my AP, its just 3ish feed tall and the ones in dirt, planted same time same batch, are 5ish feet. The corn coming out of the AP just isn't right, the ear starts to develop just fine then the hair starts browning way before the ear fills out, gets to no more than a third of the whole ear. But another difference is that the ones in AP don't have as many flowers as in the ones in the dirt, you can have a look at my videos to see what I mean.

Hey mate I feel your pain - now a full month after knocking off the trout as the water was getting too warm! Are your Silvers feeding? Mine have backed right off since yesterday - water temp 14-15.
:-x

water temp hit 17.9 today

Gave them a feed through my New 40mm Feeding pipe that iv installed through the lid and it go's 150mm into the water, the food then slowly releases through here and via the whirlpool gives a nice flow of pellets.

2 tsp of feed and it went like crazy, i think starving them through the cold has made them very food aware now as they head for the feeding tube in a school and really hit it.

looking good!!!!

a touch of warmth today for the first time 26c with a 28 tomorrow, 30 fri 29 sat and 28 sun so tank temps should be up to the 22 odd by tomorrow, nearly feels like spring again!

seeds are coming along slowly as its been cold! so hope to see some more germination soon as i want to move them for the next moon cycle to plant my next batch.

haha, had the same temp in my big tank today. Hoping like you that the next few days warm things up and the silvers feed well. Although mine are growing and I think living off the algae on the sides of the tank. Chucked a lettuce leaf in the tank tonight to see if they hit that, as the Jades in the greenhouse system are getting into them :D

:( I never see my silvers feed. The pellets get eaten, but not when I'm about. I'm missing the hyperactivity of the trout.

Maybe the SP are too busy looking over their fish shoulders at the rapidly growing barra that they are presently roomie-ing with. I really have to separate the two breeds ... one day ...

I think because my tank is blocked right out I startle them when I open it but now with the tube I can feed and just crack the lid open a tiny bit and the sun beams in to perfectly light them up :)

If I could work out how to post a video, I would show you my little Silvers feeding at the surface, they almost jump out of the tank to get to the sinking pellets as they hit the water!!
Cheers IanK

One day my tank hit 22C and the silvers hit the food at the surface. I wish I had of taken a vid of them as babies when I had them in the tropical aquariums inside. They would hide mostly but when food was thrown in they went beserk. The poor angels and kribensis didnt get a look in LOL
But that was at a temp of 26C

Hey man, you have a pic or, better yet, a video of the above feeding pipe?

Just read all the way through your thread. Nice setup.

Cheers mate, it's been a long road!!

ImageImage

Just a 40 mm pipe drilled through my lid and bout 150mm of it go's into the water semi sinking feed takes about 3mins to release 2 tbsp of feed hard to show them feeding as it's right up the back and when I open the lid they flee.
