Tell us about your smoking/smoker. Did you make it yourself? Did you marinate them first? How long did you cook them and at what temp?

The "smokers" are just some old stainless steel equipment canisters with a few holes drilled in the bottom.

I used heat beads and wood chips in the bottom. Salted the fish for 20minutes and smoked for about 2 hours.

The fish tasted great, but this lot were a bit salty. I might try a brine solution next time.

I put some aluminum mesh from an old door, over the yabbie pond to stop dog swimming in it  .
Should I be concerned about the aluminum leaching into the water :?:

I'm considering getting some Barra soon.
Anyone in Adelaide interested in sharing an order?

Hi Scott, check if the door is anodised aluminium (I think it is), anodised alu should not leach anything.
Some aluminium is just painted - you would see the paint coming off if you scratch it.

Unfortunately I have 50 or so Silver that need to grow out to table size before I can get any other species. ( also could be a tad cool for barra up my way )

I rang W.B.A hatcheries today.
They have 100mm Barra available.
$1.50 each for 50 fingerlings.

I might drop around tomorrow and see if they will do a better price on a larger quantity. Will also check if they have any larger fingerlings.

At this stage I'm looking at picking up some fish later next week - weather dependent

I have interest from a couple of Adelaide AP's so far.
Anyone else?
