thanks for the complements people.

burnsy: I must thank you again for the tank. we've been having verge collection here but nothing as remotely appealing as a 1500L ft.

I think i've settled on 2 grow beds, 2400 long, 300 high. these will drain into the 2 home made NFT's back into the FT.

Hi all, I'm just wondering what would be the ideal setup as far as sun exposure goes.
At the moment I have 3.2 x 2.2m of under patio space left aside for the tank arrangement (roofing is tinted poly sheeting). I am thinking of replacing the roofing with clear sheeting and making an elevated frame so the grow beds can be suspended above the tank (this would result in a compact system allowing me to have another 6sq or so of lawn.
this arrangement would allow me to drop plastic down the sides of the area and create a greenhouse. The beds would effectively shade the FT so sun exposure would not be an issue for that.
Ideas anyone?

From memory you are chasing the morning sun lamb and about 6hrs of it, not so much sun in the afternoons as in summer here (as you know) its freaking hot and the plants/vegies suffer.
Thats about the best I can offer :D

Hi Gnash, figured as much, I know my few pots of herbs etc. have been absolutely torched this summer. I think the area above the tank may suffer a little in winter due to the workshop being on its north side. I think I will ponder it some more and maybe draw up a few ideas.
