Yep, shade cloth will help more against the algae than any other method.

Hi rmcpb,And I'll make it 3 nil Shade cloth is the best natural method to heavily reduce algae, don't let the sunlight touch it.

In my newly acquired addiction(aquaponics) and the job I first cut my teeth on,shade cloth was the best natural way to stop or minimize algae.

As I was going to say, before I sidetracked myself, your system is coming on very well indeed, good job, keep it up.

Neat little setup mate, cheers :]

But lemme tell you as another recent aquaponics addict, its never a 'simple' system, I've read a lot of threads here and gone through putting up my own small 'simple' system and its a lot of blues till you get everything juuust right :]

But tell me more about how you fixed up your SLO, becuase I put one in with a venturi fitting and the flow from the bottom is negligible and most of the water just flows into the top of it, have put up a well lit video of it so you can have a look. Have I built it wrong or just not left enough space in the cutouts at the bottom? If I make them bigger fish might get out them, they really do seem to like taking rides.
