It's what google is for. I don't save every thing I see. Just go through the vids on aquaponics.

Hi Frank:

I remember seeing some of your system either in this forum or the barrelponics one, where there were like black gutters or something? Considering my signature (too many members now to read all the posts) what does your setup look like ATM? Getting ready to start a new DD 2009 thread with pictures of mud and iced-over tubs (not so pretty in the N hemisphere right now), can you post pictures of your experiments? Some fish and plants?

thank you, Dave,
you show the right spirit to entice me to post pictures:
instead of questioning the existence of my system, you show a real interest

I do not have all the answers, far from it, so don't get your spirits up too high
as you can imagine, plants in the northern hemisphere are not really impressive now

I have the same (huge) problems as you with frost, which has forced me to rethink part of my setup

the positive side to this is that the solutions to these problems seem to coincide with the other conclusions I had already come to
so I was going to change my setup anyway

the frost problems give me more motivation

where fish are concerned: while I have a progressive mind,
I tend to be conservative where animal welfare is concerned:
no need to make animals suffer to prove my points
theory is a better way to approach an issue
only when theory is accepted can the next step be taken

some discussions on the forum are absolutely going in the right direction:
my previous opponents are slowly accepting my attitude as positive

too bad so far the mods haven't agreed to my request to having a locked thread on which to post my pictures

but keep an eye on http://www.aquaponics.eu

in the weeks to come I will post my pictures there

feel free to PM me,
in fact I invite you and anybody else who is really interested in my setup to do so

frank

Frank if you don't like using photos just put up the google sketch up of the system. You would have a detailed drawing. We can live with that. Its just getting an idea on how it works that we are interested in. :D

Yep, would be nice to see photos of your system on an open forum like here.. where they could be applauded, commented on... perhaps even tweaked...

It's part of the healthy "open" approach that this forum takes... information is freely available to all... people disseminate and incorporate what they think might work in their own situations... then post back results ... in the same spirit.... that might benefit those that follow...

Bit like "open source" code....

But posting them on your own site would be better than nothing... and it would allow a degree of control over anything considered "proprietry"... or anything that might have "commercial" application....

Can't be too careful these days.... there's a lot of trolls around that just want to pick your brains and steal your ideas for "commercial" benefit...

Hey, that's a neat idea. Grow plants straight out of the fishes butt - no need for pumps or growbeds or anything. I haven't seen that before. Cool. 8)

Frank, there is not going to be a "locked thread" for you to post pictures on. We can not provide personal services for each individual member of the forum. If you can't share and contribute along with everyone else that's pretty disappointing.

If continuity is a problem when you're posting your pics up Frank ... then can i suggest that, as I did,... you post a request in the first post for people to hold off any questions/comments... until you've posted all the pics and given the explaination of how everyting fits together...

thanks Duff

actually a sketchup drawing allows you to look at my system(s) from all angles
and I have no problem with this

just give me time

the recent frost has allowed me to extra motivate some changes

when I post them I will motivate them

I remember seeing something similar... a red plant, reed-like. The LFS guy sold me some worm tablets, and the plants stopped growing ;-)
