I noticed that. Looks amazing! I'm thinking Red (New) Potatoes in a system like that next year would be awesome!! Mmmmmmm

Well, remember these are in a hydroponic system. I have not tried them in my aquaponic system--I should though.

Why wait until next year--I start my fall potato crop from plantlets about the first of August. About the third week in August the potato plants are transferred to the greenhouse. About 2-3 weeks from then I begin harvesting the mini-tubers (new baby potatoes). In your case you are eating with fresh peas and cream, in my case I am storing until the following spring and selling for $30-36/lb as certified pre-nuclear potato seed (provided I have a customer).

AtomicPapa: The channels are 9" x 2-1/2"-- these also are available from FarmTek. You need some way to spread out the water stream until a root mat develops. You are correct about the window screen--this works to spread out the water stream. The root mat can grow up to 3/4" thick and the root mat in the photo is a nice healthy creamy white.

As I said before, fascinating!

I've never been interested in growing spuds in the garden, take too long and I'd have to weed around them...

I may well have a go at these one day, I presume I can just lift the mat, snap off a few spuds for dinner, and let it carry on? Always throught potato plants had to die before you dug the spuds up - but as I mentioned I've never grown them!

I wonder if using roofing sheets would work to get the wide valleys for the spuds, like in this thread

Update. Greenhouse is starting to get too hot for lettuce and strawberries. I have some changes in mind to improve ventilation and cooling--hopefully later this summer I can do that work.

Its been a while since the last update. The harvest has outpaced our ability to consume. The greenhouse has heated up. The strawberries are taking a break mainly sending out runners. The lettuce and greens are going to seed--I collect some of the seed for replanting. The green beans and basil are going strong in the media grow bed as well as yellow crook neck squash, cucumber and tomatoes in the off-line system. I have a number of increasingly large green bean harvests. I planted these too close together--the growth is nearly impenetrable.

Sweet Googamooga! That's an impressive couple of photos. I'd love to see your greenhouse for myself one day. Any chance of you doing a video walk through at some point?
