a pretty good explanation too. the pump is one of those little 1500lts per hour cheapies. Wanted to run it continuous so have shut the ball valve to the gb a fair bit. This way the drain is faster than the fill. We get the 'burp' at the end of the siphon and the gb fills up again. Just wanted to try it bc my setups have been set to timers. We could easily add a couple more gbs when the fish get bigger.
GHF pulled her weight workwise and is a full fledged member, having washed her own gravel! Way to go kid.

Hi GHF, great words, and great pictures!
I've washed a lot of gravel too, and I know how hard it is. But it's worth it.

KP, I couldn't resist...the Cat with a silver perch...

I think, after washing that much gravel, that you have now passed the BYAP initiation test and are now a fully fledged (albeit small) BYAPer

yup... my mate said to me just today 'If I had 6 fish, I'd be rich! So you must be a bloody billionaire!'

But I fail to see the reference... When did I tell any1 about my cat eating my SP?

Yeah :-(
Jumped from my indoor aquarium. I was 2 metres away posting on this forum. Damn thing was pounced upon and eaten before I could get up almost. When I chased it (they usually leave their food) she picked it up and ran :-(

So I put the coverglass back on - I prefer to leave it off as it restricts light so much :-( and mu plants were doing so well.
