Hey Jebbas,

We did get my dad's system up and running. I will upload some pictures tomorrow.

Oh yeah, one of the IBC's took 6 ea 50 liter bags to get to 12-13" the other took 7.

And the one maybe two weekend build turned into 5 weekends :)

Wow, its been busy  . But here are some updates. I have since installed an additional 1" drain line from the FT to the Filters which helped with the lack of flow from gravity. [I can now cycle the entire fish tank in 20 mins, but dialed it back to 30] I would also recommend anyone spend the extra money and just double the size of gravity drain lines. I will keep tinkering and getting all the flows right where I want them, but so far so good.

There are currently 3 very large gold fish in the tank and it has been running for 4 weeks now. The system cycled in less than 2 weeks and currently growing lots of leafy vegs.

In 3 weeks i will be adding 50 tilapia fry to the FT and setting up a section of the sump as a breading tank. I will put more pictures up soon.

Oh and huge cost savings... if you are in Los Angles, I have a guy that sold me the Hydroton for $18 for a 50l bag. so send me a line if you want the connection. He has 2 pallets left.

Cheers!

Edit: Yes, I am subsidizing the nutrients with liquid seaweed extract. About 1 cap (2 tablespoons) in each grow bed per week.
