your system is cycled when you can dose with ammonia to 2, and it's 0 the next day.. and you don't have nitrites..

Im not adding alot. i mix up 12 tablespoons in 12 cups of water. when mixed up i put 2 tablespoons in each growbed. The problem im having is the blooms wont produce fruit. they just fall off. i though i could add pat to help the process along.

We put the greenhouse cover on yesterday. I hope it will help with direct heat on the rocks in the beds. in the middle of the day you cant even touch them there so hot. Some of my little plants are dying. the only thing i can think of is there are right on the rocks and getting to hot. We still need to do the sides of the greenhouse and doors. I was trying to find a material that would have that green reinforced fiber in it to match, but all i can find is over seas. I have a 8 mil clear plastics. i just dont know how that would look.

This time of year, you are better off leaving the bottom of the greenhouse without plastic to allow more air through. If you can work out any way to put a peak vent in the greenhouse, you could actually get some good convection cooling from air coming in near the base and the hot air rising out a ridge vent. In a hot climate, a greenhouse is almost more trouble than it is worth during the HOT season unless you can manage some form of cooling.

I sometimes wish I had a roof to keep the pounding summer rains here off my plants but I would not have the sides closed for anything and I would want to line the ridge vests up over the walkways so the pounding summer rains wouldn't hit the plants but I would still get the convection cooling.

If you could manage some form of water feature that ran the length of the greenhouse just outside the open bottom sides, the air sucked in could be cooled by a pond plant bed or something and provide even more cooling for your plants inside.

Yea I want to close it in but I don't have anything to cool it down. I want to buy a swamp cooler but I don't know if that would be enough to keep it cool. Yea I wanted the cover on to hopefully keep some of the direct sun off the media. I gets we're you can't touch it in the middle of the day

Thanks, i wish i would have strarted with just greens and not fruitable plants. i think my squash and zucinni and taking all the nutrients for everything else. all my blooms just fall off not fruit. my nitrates are zero now. i think they are just sucking them down to zero. i was adding patassium to the system to help out. i should have just started with greeny things.. we all learn from our mistakes if anybody has any helpful info, im have open ears. lol
