6 months is enough time to get them to plate size, so long as your conditions are optimal and you feed them lots... I wouldn't be relying on them being ready though when your only just building the system, takes a while for the bacteria to populate, and things to really start kicking along... Though if you really wanted them for Chrissie, you may be able to get some slightly larger fingerlings.. Mine were over 200mm when I bought them and I could start eating the bigger ones now without a problem..

This is all gold stuff. Well Murray I'll have to pull my finger out and come see you about a couple of grow beds and a tank. I'm going to use a stainless steel work bench to support my first couple of grow beds, but I've had to sand it down and put some anti-rust stuff on it before I can paint it..and wouldn't you know it, the only time of year I need 2 days worth of sun, it doesn't happen hehe. So I'll be calling you soon, maybe we should have our first SEQ (South East Queensland) meet soon. You know a secret mens business one hehe. a few beers, a few fish.

Back again, almost got my mini-system up. I've got a stainless steel workbench (without the bench top on it) with a bathtub in the bottom and the growbeds on top. I'll get some pics posted up once i've finished construction. Then I'll have to get some fishies.

Hi Donarto
What type of growing medium you plan on using? Have you decided on type of pump yet?
Pics would be great. :cyclopsani:
