What do you mean the insurance company is giving you grief on living in a barn? LOL, if they had any idea...

The structure looks fine to me. I'd live and work there.

Just post if you need character references. There has been three pages worth already!

Horse stalls mostly removed already.

Here is a proposed location for the tower system to go in.

The roof I believe is probably enameled steel (would that be color bond?)

As for insurance. Sigh, apparently they would be happy to insure a barn and happy to insure a residence but when you attach the two together physically, it just sends them for loops (fears of hay, horses and fires.) Trying with another agent and calling it a shed/workshop, will see if they can manage.

Anyway, here is a link to more pictures

Big trees and shady areas. Lovely. The one thing I don't have that I'd really like on my couple of acres is a nice big live oak. I''ll just have to be patient.

At least it doesn't take that log to grow a live oak (not nearly as slow as the red and white oaks up North.)
Mom is looking forward to a nice shady parking place for the RV (she will just have to get used to the sound of acorns falling on it.

Now the suspense begins.
I'm stuck working a few jobs and will probably only have a couple days off over the next month to even stop out and see the farm.
The crew got started ripping out the old carpet and painting inside.
Have the HVAC guy Coming next week.
Picked up the new flooring (good thing we got a big truck) and have a guy installing that starting this weekend.
Then I guess my mom and the cook might start moving some stuff over there but we won't really move until Mid May.
We can't really move until we are ready to move the animals and ourselves kinda all at once. See it's not all that far but I don't want to be doing twice daily trips to take care of animals for more than a few days.

So, will have to get to planning the new AP set ups so I can perhaps order the materials needed to build before it's time to do it.

And I think I need a tractor.

I never regretted buying a bucket tractor. Stop by a working farm and ask the farmer which implements (3 point hitch type) that they use on a regular basis. Then see if they would fit into your budget. Or make it fit.

Recommend getting one a few horsepower larger than you anticipate needing. I constantly push mine past it's limits and have the new hydraulic hoses to prove it.

I have a plow, finish mower for mowing the lawn (do not recommend a belly mower), a 5' rake, and a posthole digger. Even with my decreased physical ability the implements are easy enough to swap out.

Did I mention lately that I love my bucket tractor? LOL

Really looking forward to seeing your new place come together. Thank you so much for sharing with the AP community.

So, fishless cycling for the new systems? Time to get started, lassie!
Don't you hate it when work interferes with important stuff?
BTW, congrats on the new adventure.
