did you continue watering until the seedling roots got down to the water? if the true leaves did not come then it sounds like they did not get enough water and feed

Hi all, I have being very busy as of late. Thanks for the replys. There was water that came up with the cotton rope so I do not think it is a water isue. I think that Lyndon have a point with the oxygen.

I am going to try some seedlings and then give some feedback.

are the leaves getting wet?
is there any splashing of water? water droplets on the leaves can magnify the sun and burn them..
it could also be a deficiency, have you added any seasol or maxicrop with iron?

seasol or maxicrop are both processed seaweed, both can be "with iron" - thats the one you want.. i'm not to familiar with any other brands, but you should be able to get either of these on amazon? there are some others from SA here that may know of something local..

I won't comment on your product's suitability or not, but I usually put one cap full (20-30mls) of seasol into my big system (~1500lts of water total) every fortnight if stuff looks lacking and whenever I can be bothered if stuff is fine. I do half a teaspoon of chelated iron at the same time.

Takes about 10 days to see the full effects, but you'll know sooner that that if it works.

That stuff is %5 nitrogen so it may give you an ammonia spike

Only if it's in the form of ammonia nitrogen... not nitrate...

Thanks for all the input.

I have added 100 ml Seagrow will give it till Friday and thought if no good then another 100ml and so on.

I still had the wigs in so I also removed them to keep the plants more dry.

I am planing to put some beds in but will have to see how I need to go about it.

The Seagrow seem to do the trick but I think that I need to do some changes to my system. My Anoxic filter is eating all the N in the system like it is supose to do.

I was thinking of changing it with a Deep water grow bed. My problem is I do not want it to go anarobic. How do I know that I have enough flow.

Thanks.

If I have a space 2.5m wide. What is the best widths for two grow beds. 600 then 700 gap and then 1200. the 1200 bed will be accessible from both sides.

Thanks.

Just a quick question. Is it better to have a solid concrete base for the grow bed or is it better to leave it dirt to be able to dig new pipes.

Thanks.

I pulled the plug on my experiment. I am now rather saving for grow beds. I was thinking of going constant flood.

It is just Time and Money that is in short supply
