Scored a free UPS today, the bloke who had it tells me the batteries may be low.
Can I hook up my Marine deep cycle battery to this, then run my air pump in case of a powewr failure. I've been reading the UPS threads and it sort of makes sence, but not completly.

I'm also working on getting a few of these batteries that are not being used, I think there a nearly 30 of them.

Is it worth setting up???

I'd run a good test on the UPS before you rely on it, some have a timed shutdown ie they beep at you for 15 mins to allow you to shut your computer etc down then switch off.

Having a wander around the fish tanks and decided to finally take a good look in the fish tanks..... Found 1 dead refin in the bottom, scooped him out and looked for more.
I found this instead, I assume it's redfin eggs... There are also some other fat fish swimming around.

Not sure if they die after laying eggs, or if there even fertalized???
Others look chubby around the middle compared to some, but I don't know enough about them..

Does anyone know if they would they be better in a sump away from the adults and the SLO?

Small grinder for the steel cage and a jigsaw for the bladder.

I ended up with 7 ribbons of eggs, I moved all but 2 to my sumps. They all died, not sure if it was caused by moving them, the other 2 got sucked up by the SLO and ended up in the grow bed. I could see them wriggling around inside the eggs when they were in the grow bed.

I think by moving them you potentially put too much stress on the eggs.

Possibly try placing the ribbons in a glass jar of sump water next time and transfer then to a smaller fish tank with a ai pump and see how they go.

Cool system(s) by the way.

Also what is the brand and model of pump you went for? at $49 that's a bargain

Haven't seen Lyndon around for a while, although it looks like he last logged in a couple of weeks ago.
