Now for the catfish and the drain pipe hole. Some GB's have two and some have three drains. Depends on where they are located in the system.

When Tilapia have babies, can they be left with the adult fish or will the adult fish eat them? Once we notice babies in the pond, what is recommended that we do?

They will eat the babies, despite being mostly vegetarian.
You know my thoughts on the babies, get some Catfish in there and get rid of them ;)
Tilapia breed very quickly, your stocking levels are already too high for your (intended) filtration, the last thing you want is more fish, in my opinion.

So if I did nothing the breeding Tilapia would take over. Even with them eating each other. Is that correct? If so I need a couple of catfish just to keep a little control in there.

On the 30th of January when the Tilapia bumped to death all of the expendable fish (small fish we had in pond before Tilapia to test the water), we started building a Nursery Pond and had planed to put the expendables in there. We are also considering putting Tilapia Fry in there until large enough to swim with the big boys. We just finished it today. Photos of some of the construction attached. We used interlocking brick which makes the job easy. Just make the first row level and you are on your way. Dig a hole. Add sand to the bottom and level it. Level first row of brick. That's it, easy. Add liner and wait a day for two. Now I will trim the excess liner and maybe it will look good, I hope. This one is five feet diameter. The only size brick available now. Our first pond, 5 years ago, is 6 feet diameter.

Old pond located in our front yard. Five years old. My wife has a small pump to run some type of water spout for decoration since it is in the front of the house. Since it broke from kids playing with it, just a pipe sticking up has decorated it for the last two years. Maybe it helps put oxygen into the water. The pond has no filter, nothing, and the water looks clear enough to drink. We never feed the more than 50 to 100 fish in there. They eat algae and duckweed and whatever nature provides.

Very nice.
I have seen those bricks in Surin and Chiang Mai, but not the shaped curved ones, just rectangular.
Mind if I ask how much they were (each brick) - just roughly.

Each brick costs 7 baht. It takes 19 per level (course). This pond is 8 courses. 8 x 4" =32" high. Water level is 28" high. We live in the area where they are made so here is the cheapest in Thailand. The further you get from here the more expensive. Only 300 baht for a double layer of plastic. For those outside of Thailand, 30.5 Baht = $1. Changes everyday, up/down.

AO+

I have questions for you. Lanko 222 - How many coats, how many times do you paint. Once, twice?

I have a 5 Kg can of Lanko 222. If my wife understood the Thai correctly it states to mix with one and one-half liter water. Does that mixture sound correct to you?

John

Mixture is correct, but don't mix it all at once.
It dries very quickly, mix it a bit at a time.

Just to be absolutely clear.
I re-read your post, it should be 1.5 litres for the WHOLE 5kg.

I have a pump that my wife has been using in her Koi pond and decided that she no longer needed two pumps there. So I plan to try it with the pump I have and see what happens. Most likely I will still have to buy a new pump somewhere down the line. I think running two pumps is better than one in case a pump fails. There is no plate on this pump, only a well worn sticker that I peeled off and attempted to clean. What it says Is:

...250 W
...150L/min
...ax: 6.5 m
...2860r/min

I am not sure of the correct meaning of the last three items. Can someone help? Other information on the tag I understood: Electric Source 220 240 ...50Hz, Single Phase, Insulation: B, and Discharge 1", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2". Submersible Pump. Name .....PRO.

Dots before or after the information indicates damaged and unreadable information.

Thanks, John

Wild guess...
150L/min = 150 Litres per minute.
ax:6.5m = Max Head 6.5 metres
2860 = 2860 rpm
