Hi John,
I like you temp. filter.

It might become permanent. It does have a nice planting area and it is out of the way.

Sunday and today the men worked pouring the cement pad for the new GB area. I will try to get some photos tomorrow. I can order the cement rings as soon as the entrance way is cleared. At present we have a few meters of sand for the next project and parts of the tree that was cut a few days ago. The delivery truck could not get into the yard but a few feet as the soil was too soft. They are going to have to pack in some gravel and build it up plus move the sand over and clear out the tree parts.

My workers are resting until Friday so no more work yet. Photos of cement pad. They used 15.5 bags of cement plus gravel and sand. Mix was 1-2-4. Mixed by hand.

Hello everybody, I'm back again, I hope. All trees and such removed. Driveway to back yard open and clear. Today they delivered 20 of the cement rings and set them in place for me. More to be delivered later. Photos will follow soon. Wife has camera and had to go out of town to a luncheon and took camera with her.

Has anyone on here experience using 1/2" pvc to drain GBs. The drain hole with fitting on these rings comes with a threaded pvc fitting installed. I worry they might clog up easily. Or, drain too slow. Please let me know your experiences with half inch pvc and opinions.

For pumping water from fish pond/tank to GBs I plan to use the same 3/4" pvc I used for the last system. I have plenty of 3/4" pvc on hand.

Here are the photos of the 20 rings I am starting with. I may have to add another drain or enlarge the one there now. It is 1/2 inch and I think it will drain much to slow. I am going to raise them up 8" so there will be more room to attach the GBs to the drain pipe that sends the water back to the pond. I want to drain the GBs into a 4" pvc pipe and run it to the pond. I checked and the GBs/rings are not fish safe so I will paint them with two coats of Lanko 222.

Those are GB/rings are awesome. Water proofed on the insides, acid stained and sealed on the outsides and you'd have a gorgeous set-up. Envious.

Excellent, much better than the last setup :). Do the rings already have a base in them, or did you concrete the base?.

I ordered them with a base/bottom. You can order them with or without. I plan to order some more for a raised bed, dirt garden soon. About 30 more. The drain plug, 1/2" is standard. I could not change that. The man said I have to do it. I will try the small hole first. If I had my choice it would have been 3/4".

Sorry, I forgot to add. The 30 rings I will order will be without bottoms. Cement ring with bottom costs Baht 320 each. Without bottom Baht 220 each. At present 30 baht = $1. They are strong and heavy.

GBs were delivered free of charge. I gave the three delivery men 100 baht each (little over $3 each) to carry them from fence opening to cement pad and put them in place. They were very happy and so was I. I made a mistake on the price. A ring with no bottom is only 100 baht, not 220. More than the type of country, the problem with cost is greed without any controls or lack of enforcement. Stores that are overpriced or do not provide service - I simply vote with my feet.
