this is the answer! ;-)

Hi Everybody, have been a bit quiet the last couple of week's went to kangaroo ground fish farm with F&F to get 60 silvers boy what a setup,Lindsay&Glynis are some of the nicest people i have ever met, anyway the fish were 150 to 200mm long put into 2 plastic bags 30 in each and filled with oxygen, very hot day and 2.5hrs travel home they went belly up in the bags one more so than the other tried to revive the but no luck only 5 survived i was devastated, spoke to Lindsay and worked out that maybe to many of that size in the bags on a hot day so he offered to deliver more fish next saterday which he and Glynis did.
Did some test's with DO Meter every thing fine.put some in with the yabbies and the rest in with the redfin. watched them all saterday afternoon very happy fish, sunday morning 5 dead silvers in the redfin tank the rest looked fine.what is wrong did more tests amonia and nitrite nearly nill nitrate 40 ph 6.9 temp 24deg,monday moring 2 silvers and 1 redfin dead.rest swiming around looking healthy, tuesday morning 1 silver swiming around the top gulping air looks like lack of oxygen during the night had 2 air stones in each tank no trouble in yabby tank, wednsday morning 2 silvers aqnd 1 redfin gulping air.went and bought a large air comp with a 12 port manifold and a heap of air stones now the tanks look like they are boiling hope this fixes the problem will update when i see what happens Jim. :(

just look

That sucks. I can't believe that it was a DO issue given the air you were supplying. Is certainly weird though that the Redfin carked also :?

Jim, sorry to see your losses - this suggests to me either the fish food or something in the water, have you used any type of fertiliser for the plants?

Just thinking out loud and may be stating things you may have already checked

I know how you feel Jim, I have had some losses also (not fish of that size though). Mine was due to chemical contamination of the water from the tank I used to cart the water from the rainwater tank to the fish tank. It seems odd that the reddies should start dying after adding the SP's to the tank. :|

Hi VB i think the redies are susceptible to temps over 22 deg by what i have seen in the local creeks and dams with the drought.
i mean water temp.

Nova i have had reddies die before the silvers came on site and now i thinh it was water temp that killed them any thing over 22 deg they are not the same.
