Hey MC, which are you going to do next? Write a manual on your system for those of us who would like do something similiar or are you going to into the turnkey AP business for the rich folks down in LV? (Compete with Al Gore on the "carbon footprint buy back" business.)

posting on the forum is prolly the closest ill ever get to writing a manual. almost everything im doing came from ideas off this forum. anything with the word Al Gore connected to it would not be very popular around here. although a new park has been built in las vegas to promote permaculture. http://www.springspreserve.org/html/ so dunno. i try and get everybody i know to grow somthing. its a start.

MC, you said you use those pumps for your coolers. What coolers?

i have a central ac unit, but i use a cooler like this most of the time. ac cost about $350 a month to cool my hous in the summer. swamp cooler cost about $80 a month. i only us ac when the humidity gets above 5%, which is not very often.

It sort of looked like a plastic food storage container, do you think if you went to a heavier gauge poly, like one of the ones for general storage, it might work? (Still cheap enough, and if it doesn't work your not out much $.)

I figured that was what you meant by "coolers". Most people who live in high humidity areas aren't familiar with the "swamper" or evaporative cooler. I am sure many of the Aussies use them where that humidity is generally low. All they do in my area is make you wetter, and eventually feel hotter, here (our humidity levels are usually always in the double digits.)

The evaporative cooling would work well above 5% as well, wouldn't it?

We had 96% humidity the day before yesterday.. Although they call it relative humidity here, so yeah, that must be a different scale.

We use relative humidity. Today's forecast is 75F (24C) and 87% humidity. Not bad, cooler but a touch muggy.

http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-cur ... code=19103

We can get days that are 100% humidity and temperatures in the 90's F (32C+). Those are miserable.

5% humidity at 85F would give you a wet bulb of 50f  thats some nice cooling ;)

wow, if the humidity here gets below 20% (I think) they start declaring extreme fire danger, not "just get on with every day living"
