I believe the stripes will start to fade as they mature. Many cichlids have stripes as juveniles that then fade or disappear as adults. Adult fish may display striping under stress. The stripes are kinda cool though, aren't they?

I think DD just mistook T147. My favorite is T34. But really, we should only have up to T165 -- that's how many they shipped. Or do you just name the ones that actually made it into the tank?

Dave requested more pics of the fish. You'd think he can't wait to get them or something! ;)

Weekly update. The plants are growing well; the beans are flowering and bok choy is really growing. Lettuce has perked up, and nasturtiums are happy. I even got brave and planted some cucumber, tomato and eggplant after Dave's comments about how bright the sunroom is. It looks like the first $100 salad will be soon!

The tilapia are ravenous and I've done a little menu experimenting:

Radish leaves - big thumbs up
Bean leaves - thumbs up
Frozen and chopped Swiss Chard (silver beet) - thumbs down. The pumps handled it OK, and it ended up in the growbeds. Bleah.

Duckweed, pellets and flakes are always popular, of course. I'm feeding pellets first to see if all the fish can handle 3mm size pellets, but also because as much as I'd like to feed a lot of leaves and weeds, I just don't have a lot. I can't wait for early Spring weed season. I guess I'll have to refresh myself on edible weeds!

I was going to go for 'edible for us' since I can verify that easier. There are a lot to choose from...dandelion, purslane and chickweed, to start. However, I figure I can feed tilapia with grass, too. We don't eat that, but cows do. I'm going to skip feeding them poison ivy. Goats eat that, but I'm not touching it! I'm also passing on tree leaves.

My goldfish loved dandelion leaves last year

How much pellets and flakes are you feeding the 1/2 crew? I am giving them about 1 tablespoon of pellets (before crushing) and a few pinches of flakes. Yesterday I threw in extra flakes later because it was so fun watching them eat!

How is the wasabi doing? Would you say it's healthy and growing well? Do you have anything to compare it to, even?
That would be one helluva cash crop around here if it can be grown right. I know we discussed this elsewhere; but I'm curious as to your progress. Wasabi could make just about any AP setup profitable, if it can be done well.
