During the day - try lifting up the sides of the GH to let in some air and decrease the humidity (sorry - when your back is up to it)

Don't rule out nutritional deficiencies yet. I have recently been doing some reading on cucumber deficiencies and your leaf looks a lot more like what I am seeing at my work. (I work in an organic soil grown greenhouse in Canada)
Your leaves look a bit more papery and scorched than those pictured regarding the bacteria that is being referred to.
Several nutrient deficiencies can cause symptoms similar in nature to what you see.

Aquaponics offers a new challenge in treating the issue though.
Do you supplement with any trace mineral sources?

From the pinhead spots one can bring up a zinc toxicity as per below.
It is what I am leaning to at work with our cukes. Tissue analysis will tell me more soon.
Are any of your younger leaves growing pale, where you can see the veins darker?

It's time to cut the window hole in the end for ventilation and set up the fan me thinks. Thatnks for the good advice everyone. Am disappointed to pull it oout, has maybe 5 good flowers setting on it, but better now than wrecking everything else.

Hi Monya
I had the same problem with my rocket leaves...didn't happen to the the other plants at all...I end up pulling it all out..easy to start again

With seeds it seems like you get a higher germination rate with AP then dirt..I plant some bean seeds the other day which have started growing..With bean seeds you are suppose to plant and only water once until they germinate to stop rotting of the seed..I had no rotting with 15 minute cycles

Good to see you back well.

LB :)

Hey LB,

I agree with the germination thing, although some seeds seem to disappear. Lettuces, corn, cucumber seem to germ readily in my system.

Raimiuso, I missedyour post, must have been typing at the same time. The leaves were quite papery as you said. I have pulled them out, but interested now to see what you come up with. Thanks

My ph is heading down past 7 into the 6's so I think it is time for some buffering. So I sent my willing slave out to buy shell grit. My only instructions: get coarse stuff. So she comes home with 40 kg's  because it was only twice the price of 8 kg's.

So with 3500 litres, 2000 litres of gravel and 200 120mm average fish, how much shell grit should I put in, shouyld I add it to the gravel under the irigation grid, or in a sock under the return water? I assume there will be some left over for the chooks to peck :?

My personal preference is in the bed, at or below the water level.

I'm still not sure that you can "over dose" with the carbonate. i think it regulates it fairly well at about 7.5

Do us a test monya! Grab some tap water in a glass, chuck in two tale spoons of shell grit and stir, check the ph after 24 hrs.

Steve

ok sounds like a plan. so the theory is that you can't buffer up past 7.5 so it should be a matter of getting to a point of no extra benefit so to speak

This is weird, just went wirelss, am typing this from bed on a very weird angle

Two buckets with 5 litres in each:
B1 - from tank PH 6 (or less)
B2 - from tap...PH 7.2

added a tablespoon of shellgrit in each and stirred - see what happens tomorrow
