We don't HAVE to carry, but we CAN. We have what is called stand your ground law here in Florida. If some bozo decides he's going to pull out a weapon, we are allowed to take him out. It can cause a few issues, but also prevents a lot. When you outlaw guns, do outlaws turn them in? They don't here in the states, maybe they do Down Under, but I highly doubt it. I like the look of your holsters btw

Pretty sad state of affairs if you have to carry a gun everyday. Glad I only have to worry about drop bears.

This pretty much sums it up. Its unfortunate but true. Most criminals in the states dont obey the law, but then again most of them get government assistance. :(

Thanks for the compliments, still trying to perfect them

Well went in and did some much needed trimming. Anything old or that didnt have blooms had to go.

I know the celebrities will bounce back, they already were, we will see what the romas do.

Now some other plants will have a chance to get some light

Celebrity showing new growth at bottom after trimming tops week or so ago

and for the record this job was a PITA, having to make sure you werent cutting a main stem to the new growth at the top. Also slipped once and buried the sharp end of the clippers about .5" deep in my thumb :-x

But I bet everything got pollinated well in the process

Lemon tree is doing awesome, with new blooms every day, hopefully it can keep this up

But unfortunately ever since trimming the toms back the celebrities are all starting to split, thinking cause it doesnt have all the leaves to soak up the extra water? I dunno

Image

and one Roma plant is starting to fizzle out..... maybe time to pull a few and start over

Image

Ghost pepper plant is showing some great growth

East,

What are the Roma tomatoes for taste, when grown in AP? I've only ever had them from supermarket and always found them a bit tasteless.

Wife tends to use them sauces and relish's a lot. Definitely not sandwich material though.

Terry compared to store bought they are much better, but dont compare to the celebrities or the beef steaks.

I used a bunch of the romas to make some hot sauce and noticed when blanching them this weekend they never sank in the water like other toms. Dont know what that means.

Once they fizzle out I am going to plant something else that I will be using for more than just salsa.

Any recommendations on certain toms that do better in AP?

East,

i think it's more about tomatoes and climate than tomatoes and AP. Roma's are good for making pico de gallo because it's more meaty and less juicy.

I have never had great tomato crops because i dont train and trim them much. I plan to start trying t grow better tomato, just wont be this year.

I am trying some cherokee purples after seeing people rave about them on this forum. I only have one tomato so far but it's bigger than any tomato i have ever had.

I agree Cotton, starting to get pretty warm. The shade cloth keeps it a little cooler inside green house, but still to hot for large scale production.

Cotton where did you find the seeds for the Cherokee purples?

I agree it's a little too warm to try Cherokee. If you wait until fall I will have some Cherokee Purple, Pineapple and other seeds. I get some of my heirloom seeds from My Patriot Supply. Their packaging is designed for when SHTF and will last for a long time!

Victory seeds is another good one.

If you want a huge list of toms seeds that will make your head spin try

I am trying some San Marzano romas which is also an heirloom so the seeds can be saved. It is IND so it will keep on growing and not fizzle out if the conditions are good. I also have some Martino roma which is another heirloom but DET so it will produce and die off. It is supposed to be less prone to BER than San Mar's so I got them for backup. Check into some FL/TX heat resistant varieties also. My next challenge is to try different heirlooms and save my own seed.

I think i saw some burpee seeds at lowes/home depot but when i went back i couldnt find them, I ended up buying a couple of small plants at lowes in murphy tx.

do any tomatoes do well in heat? Mine always grow vegetative grow until the 100+ degree days then just kind of exist until September when it starts cooling off, then go bonkers with fruit for sept/oct.

Thanks for all the info guys, been a while since I have been on. Been staying pretty busy with side gig, and the day job is crazy too.

Will look into some of the heat resistant strains here in a bit. Think I am fixing to pull all but the beefsteaks and one celebrity plant that is doing well and make some room for something else

Here are a few recent pics

Image

Still getting aphids pretty bad, but my lady bug army is strong and reproducing in the green house now. They dont seem to fool with the aphids on the strawberries though so I am fixing to chunk them.

Do y'all have any remedies for keeping ants off the grow beds???

Image

Used up all those toms and a few from outdoor garden and made some salsa, turned out great

Holsters don't look to shabby, the kimber however.....

(my EDC is a Les Baer ;) )

I use a Supertuck Deluxe for my IWB holster as well.

I need to get a holster for my 22/45 and sparrow (suppressor) so I can walk around with it.
