Reading article on push fit pipes whether to use glue or not ,there is a difference between the two - push fit pipes are good when it comes to maintenance easily taken apart ,,gluing pipes you would use weld fit pipe (Glue) for use inside the tank just push together so you can take apart for maintenance ,good for outside tank connectors etc. good idea to keep to the same manufacturers pipes ,I found when buying pipe at random they don't always fit different makes etc.

Looks like your system is doing great :thumbright: What's the temperature in the greenhouse?
Hi haven't been around on the web site for some time ,painting fences ,getting ready to build a small extension on workshop ,I bought a T 5 grow light for greenhouse ,had a lot of pests in greenhouse ,so concentrating on building and getting every thing right ,making sure system is failsafe ,bought a battery back up system to maintain system .I installed a D W T system ,might change to a larger pipe going from 4" to six inch pipe -water flow not very good need to get lights over that part of greenhouse .Bought a small fan to circulate air round G H ,now concentrating on how to keep bugs out of greenhouse ,on YouTube somebody mentioned milk 20% add molasses one tsp.. Say one litre bottle 20% milk tsp. molasses rest water .The idea when sprayed on plants the sugars in the milk kill the bugs simply they do not have a spleen to digest the sugar ? will try .How is your system progressing please send photographs .temperature in greenhouse fifteen to eighteen degrees ,have found the T 5 grow light keeps the G H fairly warm ,in winter plan to install gas heating to maintain about fifteen degrees ,Cheers

In the US, it varies depending on region. Here in San Diego, keeping trout is illegal. Or at least it requires heavy permitting. Catfish are also prohibited here. Mostly it is to prevent diseases from spreading to the native population of salmonids and catfish. Conversely, tilapia are now considered "native" and are perfectly alright here. Every state is going to have different regulations. Even within a state the regulations will be different according to the region.
Hi I am looking into licences for trout, just getting the system round - planted lettuce ,this time I hope to keep the bugs away so concentrating on building introducing fail safe measures ,I didn't notice the bug infestation so now I will concentrate on the growing side of aquaponics ,installed T5 grow light ,lettuce far too leggy on first try- hopefully the light will correct this .How is your system coming along ? Cheers

Dear John,

Have you tried investigating holes and hiding places - I had mice living under my house getting through the ventilation grill hole.

Hi Concerning Vermin I am looking to seal the bottom of the greenhouse ,set traps -lay down bait in order to get rid of pests ,have been removing leaves ,spraying greenhouse with milk containing molasses " the making up 20% milk -rest is water mixed with teaspoonful of molasses "the idea the sugar in milk kills fungi also bugs ,on the grounds they don't have a spleen to digest properly -as seen on YOUTUBE ? .The geraniums are doing well in the first system over wintering ,I just pruned them down to about three inches ,they are growing very well .Thinking about changing the 4" inch D W T pipe for six inches to give plants more room also to improve flow rate of water .How is everything going with your system?

Today I'm finishing the community gardens one.
Students are doing well in their systems and our school system is ticking along, although trout days are numbered as its heating up.
Have you seen square pipe for NFT? You could make a ring around the outside of your greenhouse/garden.
