That drainage pond/planned wetlands is kind of how I would like to run the family greywater to my backyard canal. Lots of media and water plants to filter the water before it gets to the recirculating water in the canal.
You could probably use IBC cages with some smaller mesh inside to make the gabions if you know someone burying their IBCs for sumps and not using the cages.

Not much going on here yet, but I have this week off and the holiday junk is out of the way. Hope to put something together AP-wise soon.

Got a 50 gallon aquarium on Craigslist this morning for $50. Included all you see here!

Yep I wanted glass so I can see the fish, tired of not being able to enjoy them visually. Aquariums are not usually close to 1:1 $ per gallon. I hope to make something nice out of it.

Retweeting this, we had a lot of mosquitoes in the back yard not sure why yet but this could be used to catch them and feed to the fish:

Dave and April,

Thank's for letting me stop by. Good tasting coffee btw! My wife is very much like yours,in that it MUST look nice.

I looked around for a local Lowe's but it closed up. I guess I'll have to look else where for un treated charcoal.

Hope you don't mind but I'm going to steal your wallwart/relay idea for a backup system trigger.

I came back home more fired up to get some kind of greenhouse going. More on that over in my thread.

Thanks again!

Nice to meet you too Bob, here is the thread for the 12V relay backup:

Menard's probably has the same stuff, might be seasonal. Just look for hardwood lump BBQ charcoal (not briquets).

Looking forward to seeing your projects!

Hey Dave,

How is the Master Gardener Program working out for you? Is it worth all the effort of classes and mandatory volunteer time? Just wondering because they are going to start up a training session here in Minnesota.
