Weird, my watermelon in the aquaponics is smashing the watermelon in the wicking bed... I've had two large very fast growing watermelons so far from the AP, and the wicking bed fruits are really slow to grow.

Sorry Marc, i didnt see your post.

I could not find anything at home to accurately measure out the water at that level.

I am hoping to get a pipette to measure out in 0.5ml level to get something close to the real answer.

I will be in perth for the next week though, so it will be a bit before i get a chance.

hi Ryan, i use a syringe or the digital scales and measure 245ml of rain water or deionised water and 5 mls of tank water. test 5ml of the mix and multiply the result by 50. i try to use the low end of the test scale as that seems the most acurate ie easier to tell the difference between levels.

doing it this way you can use readily available measuring gear.

to increase confidence in the results you can do a a dilution on either side. so for me that would be a 1 in 40 and a 1 in 60.

cheers
marc

You are telling me mate!

Ok so for the test that Marc has been waiting for for over a month!

Drum roll please....

5ml of AP water + 45ml of distilled water gave me.... 160+ppm!!!

I will say that my water level is extremely low given the 3 weeks i was away. I would say down to around 30%. I am now up to around 50-60% and will finish the top up tomorrow. So i will retest then.

This is how i found my system this morning when i finally got to look at it.

No that is not a sideways photo... :P We had a lot of wind with the storm the other day.

I said the brahmi was out of control.... At that point in time i didnt realise how far out it was.... suspenseful huh :P

bloody caterpillars have started again....

Guess how many capsicums i have... The winner gets a pat on the back.

As you can see, it was starting t oget a little bit rough around the edges. I have cleaned it all up now, so i will post some photos later :D
