Really enjoying reading this thread. Thanks for all the info Jaymie. I'm about a tenth of the way through -- but skipped to the end to see what yr up to now.

New grow beds and of-the-shelf "mainstream?" system look good too.

Happy Christmas yaugh

we have 11 days off, time for long overdue maintenance on two of the systems

a couple of years with heavy wet seasons has lead to some slumping of the tanks

after the plants were transplanted, the rainbow tank, bath-tubs, two sump tanks

We poured the slab this morning. Now we are in town getting the rest of the pipe fittings for the new grow beds.
The conc will take a day or so to cure in this extremely humid weather.

The more humididity, the better curing. Even better with some Old Carpet on it.

Jaymie and Axl, (Silly) Season's Greetings to you and the sprouts. This thread was the first exposure to AP I ever had, and I've been going (big) ever since!
I think I will read the whole thing again on New Year's Day.

Raising a cider glass to ya in Texas,
Rick

thanks for that Rick :) I'm sure we will manage a cidre or two as well :D

some updates on the revamp

we have poured the slab, the conc is curing. We are covering the ibc's in shadecloth (no more carpet) and changing the ibc that was the primary sump for another one so we don't have to worry about blocking all the holes from the old drainage system.

we also got a skip for Christmas so it's handy for putting all the old plumbing bits and crap in.

This morning we (read Alex) emptied most of the gravel out of the blue drums

we (read me) removed the plumbing,

the strawberry towers

the besser blocks, the railway sleepers, the drains

still to go, the 6 end drums and their associated blocks and sleepers. when we have recovered from all this lot we will also remove the two bath tubs outside the greenhouse.

Barrels look pretty clean Jaymie... and they'd be about 3 years old at least wouldn't they??...

Another example of how grow beds DON'T block up with gunk... (if the system is designed to the feed/stocking capacity)...

I've got a few of those "Brown Evergreen Pine Trees" too now.
Dang drought... bad for trees, good for drumming up interest in the Aquaponics!
