File comment: Out from tank to gbs, 40mm pressure pipe out to 50mm stuff bc we had it lying around. Can also separate pipe here to clean, H2S is a killer in pipes.

File comment: this is my favourite shot. I think you can see both 6mm inlet pipes flowing into drain pipe from exterior support pipe. The oxygenation in this whole setup is fantastic.

File comment: inflow to the sump. Yeah the water's dirty, 5mm gravel unwashed, delivered, not 7mm washed as ordered! Can dump the lot if needed but how's that aeration!

File comment: Tap from sump so we can dump water from the system if we want, before it gets back to fishtank. We have a 40mm ball valve just inside shed behind this, so we can isolate flow to this outlet tap.

Getting fish this wknd FF. Forgot to draw attention to ur sump pipe suggestion. You can see in the pics we have a 150mm stormie b/n the sump barrels. Got some holes drilled in it and gravel below, any problems and we should know pretty quickly.

With my subpond 3000 fishtank pump, it takes 25 minutes to fill the gbs to the max of the v crenellation on the inner drain pipe when the return ball valve FROM the fishtank is closed. It takes 35 minutes to completely dump this water. To start with then, I have programmed the timer to fill for 20 off for 40 from 5am til 6pm, (timer only has 14 programmable preset options.)

Well, it has been a war of attrition and so far, the good guys are winning!
I have used the 20mm scoria from the original system, to surround the standpipes and prevent 5mm gravel getting into my 6mm pre drilled drainage holes! It will also help cycle my system quicker.

Sump pump kicks in at about half sump full and pumps like a ripper, handling inflow with ease.

Running spa pump in original setup for fishies and changing out a little water each day. Nitrates are starting to climb but everything else is spot on.

I will pick up 400 2-3 inch silver perch this week. It sounds a lot but we need to remember it is all related to biomass and oxygenation. 400 babies in a well oxygenated 5000lt tank is fine imo. We have plenty more gbs to bring on line as they grow. We are into spring now and will have plenty of heavy feeding plants to remove nutes and as can be seen, I don't think O2 will be an issue. (I do need a couple big airstones for when the pump is off overnight, gettem this week b4 fishies.)

We are pretty much ready to roll. Time to start testing the vitals, making adjustments and away we go. Already there are a few things i would change, but we have the flexibility to do this as we go. We will add uv cloth over the next month or so and plastic for heat retention b4 next winter. I feel this is a fairly robust sytem in the making and look forward to seeing how the production side of things unfolds. I hope these photos serve as inspiration to those looking to get involved and a kick along for those who may have had a setback or got caught up in the hustle and bustle of day to day living.

Hi Faye, I am thinking about offering it as the AP entry door on Thank God You're Here! Watchyathink? The neatness is all thanks to dad, he is a stringline and spirit level at 10 paces kinda guy.

Seems like u have been busy too. Can't believe how quick things have kicked off in ur system, truly inspiring.

TT, looks awesome. I hate reading threads like this at 9:30am on a workday because I get all excited but then have to sit and stare at a computer screen all day.

Why are you only going to pump during the day? Noise/Heat/Let the fish sleep/Other?
