So I have made a video of my system and I have uploaded it to youtube.. the camera I had was a bit low quality and I refer to 'lettuce' as 'salad' all the time... I don't think I would make a great journalist!

Thanks for sharing your video - loved it! Its such a great journey the urban food bug.

You should put some captions in there at 12:30 when 'Bailey' is staring down the brood.

My temperatures in the tank are getting as low as 14c and for Jade Perchn that is supposed to be the lowest range. Does anyone have experience with Jade perch at these temperatures? They have stopped feeding but they were eating a little as low as 16 and 17. They range in size from 10-20cm.

Great vid Tom, its amazing looking back how quickly you educated yourself and knocked up what I would consider one of best systems on the forum. You have thought of everything and your construction is so neat and well designed.

Truly remarkable.

:)

My tank is down to 15/14 , I only feed every couple of days. Give a bit and if eaten give a bit more. If not eaten after 20 min remove. Been 16 c for the last couple of days and they have eaten well every second day.

Thanks Charlie :D

That's a big compliment since I have looked at so many great systems on this forum, and stolen as many great ideas to make my own! :thumbright:
I am happy to say this is one worthwhile hobby that keeps giving. Already planning new systems in my head.

Hi Bear

Good to hear from someone else with similar temps, my fish seem to be fine so far, they seem to have a bit of fat on them from the summer so hopefully that helps. I am curious what the lowest temps people have managed to keep Jade Perch healthy at. :thumbright:

Not sure mate as this is my first year, have not seen my fish for weeks over then a quick shadow over the SLO PIPE.

Have not seen any dead yet and there are over 75 jades and 25 silvers.

Chainsaw may be able to help if he has a read. Cheers

You'll know if they are dead, CC. They lay upside down near the SLO or pump for about 3 days then they float to the top all bloated. My point is, and Im sure this wont happen to you, is that you would find out eventually.

:)

My water temp currently is 19 while out side temp 12.5 .This morning the water temp is 17.

The fish are still eating well. They are some silver, some jade and 2 barra. Not sure if the barra will survive this winter.

cheers,
Long.
