OK - all salted to 1ppt

Looks like I'm going to lose the beetroot seedlings I transplanted - stupid late-March 30+ºC temperatures

Water quality readings not really shifting at all.

Now have a thermometer floating around as well.

Hope this storm that coming on the BOM radar doesn't take out the power - haven't had a chance to set up a backup system yet

how did your power go CD? I was in york and got a wicked light show, heard 160,000 out of power, got back and the council has managed to flood my back room again water mark half way up the outside of my tanks as well, all the gravel they put in back lane after last organized flooding is now in backyard, 41.4mm last night in Narrogin, but I suppose Perth is a bit worse off, them hail stones sure cause some damage, york was quite pleasant in comparison, but hope all is well CD get backup organized

From your other post, I think you said you did not lose power, that's good... I would suggest that you get down to the backup system asap... I was just talking to my friend on Sunday afternoon that I did not get a chance to test my backup system yet, and guess what Monday evening the system was put to a full test... Ran out of power after about 10hrs of supplying air...

Mate, thanks for the thought - your probs sound bigger than mine. Hope you and T are able to cope. We got some water in through a bit of ceiling plaster inside the house near a small box drain that didn't cope. Woulda been a nightmare if we weren't here, but caught it early and kept the inflow under control. Nothing else and didn't lose power so got off pretty damn lightly really.

Fish fed well last night. Tank level was up but pumped 700-800L down the drain in case more came down during the night (which it didn't)

Nope, we were part of the lucky bunch from what I've gathered today. Ivan, if mine does 10 hours once it's set up, I'll be very impressed with myself :headbang: - well done !! Guess you invoked Murphy's Law on Sunday arvo...

Well yes I believe I did, in some ways I was glad that I was able to test the system this way... I would have otherwise be reluctant to carry out a trial test on the system and then only to find out that when I have fully drained the battery, the power outage comes along... although I did initially have problems with the auto changeover, and I suspect that it might be the RCD that I added to the backup circuit... have taken that out now... but I don't really want to experience another outage....

SPs are definitely growing !

Amm: 0 - 0.25
NO2: 1.0
NO3: 5.0
pH: 7.8
Temp: 20.2ºC (6:00am)

When are those damn nitrites going to disappear ??

Not sure where the salinity is up to at the moment with Monday's influx of rain water and subsequent pumping out of about 800L.

NO3 isn't a problem CD but the others are acceptable in these temps they will go soon enough, main thing to remember is if the fish and plants are happy then do *frack* all, even cutting the feed for a day will probably 0 it out, but then it will probably come back when you feed, i would be happy if I could get close to your pH, I need to raise it a tad for the incoming Marron

Give it a few months when things have settled down, and you will hardly do any testing. A lot less stressful. :thumbright: :thumbleft:

Rupe, when full the FT is 3000L and have four BYAP growbeds. Pump has been on constant flow for 3 weeks. There's 99 SPs ranging from 60-200mm

This morning's readings

Amm: 0
NO2: 0.25
NO3: 5-10
pH: 7.8
Temp: 17.9ºC (6:00am)

OK, ammonia gone and 'rites fading. Bit happier. Now just gotta keep seedlings alive in 30+ temperatures

Nuh, just a freak accident.

I picked up 8 leftovers that Lucky had as he's moving.
Then a week later Gav was delivering 90 to me, and an extra one fell in !

This morning's readings;

Amm: 0 - 0.25
NO2: 0.25
NO3: 5.0
pH: 7.8
Temp: 20.4ºC (6:00am)

Also have now gone from constant flow to timer controlled.

Heat over the last week has killed all of the following seedlings;
-beetroot
-broccolini
-pak choi
-water cress

Stupid temperatures - should have put in tomatoes and capsicums by the look of it.
