Yeah, I am interested as well. Personally I don't think a little door is necessary. Gives them a chance to choose a new hide. If they fall out or come out and get eaten, tough luck.

Yea Im gunna give it a go EB, see how long I can drag it out. It may be costly thou. Ive got an air conditioner in the shed (where this tank is) and Ill run it during the day then put a block of ice in over night and see what comes of it.

What do you think is the best way to filter this water? Some kind of aquarium filter? I have a small one in there now but its not much chop.

Zman - yea this was the biggest one I had left out of my lot, they look awesome under the flouro light.

I'd go with a constant flood planter pot full of scoria with few house plants. Pump to pot, no holes siphon back to fishtank. And a bit of a media guard so the roots can block the siphon.

Sorry Zman, what I meant by screw together is the ball cage is in 2 halves which screw together. Or Im trying to make a hinge so it can open like a clam. The trick it to keep the hinge and clips etc on the inside of the ball so it rolls freely.

Do you have a B store out there Charlie? I've noticed they have recently started stocking a small round compost tumbler ball.. Might give you some ideas perhaps on how they constructed it..

We do EB. Your a legend, I will check them out.

Its been difficult to find a plastic cage ball with the right size gaps. Too small and they wont have good access to the waste settled on the bottom and legs get stuck in the holes OR too large and it seems to be difficult for them to walk. Large bio balls have been good so far.

Im having fun experimenting but have sustained a number of pincer injuries. :crybaby:
