Since my grow beds are isolated from ground I have found that wrapping the electric fence sting around my strawberries keeps them on the vine! It not only stops dogs, but visitors too

For a minute there it sounded like you were advocating the running current through the strawbs! I thought you were going to say that it helped them grow better or something... then I read the bit about pesky visitors.
Does it work at keeping the birds at bay? or just the human visitors?

following on from viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4813&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

This is what we have done with some of the stuff. But first, some history pictures.

When we built the greenhouse 2 1/2 years ago we used recycled steel and timber to build the frame. The roof was new greenhouse film. Our one major problem with it was the wind here. A few months after it was built we had a cyclone alert and so we tied the shadecloth and film down to the frame to keep it stable. This pulled the rafters in tight as well and the plastic wasn't as taut as it should be. Rain fell, the film bellied and stretched.

Two years later, more rain, more bellies (siphoning the roof out was a daily occurrence). So, now it is gone :D

There were also holes from us pushing the film up to shift the water.

Another fine day today and the job is done :D

The alcinite gives a different light from the film and shadecloth, but I don't think the fish or plants will mind. We really need to get some heavy planting going now that the roof is done.

They are still in there, about 280 of them.

Is that a large water plant? and if so, pretty please can I have the name? I've been looking for it for many hours! :|

Jens,
that plant is in the background of most of the pictures! There are two species there, red-stemmed Ceylon Spinach (Basella rubra) and green-stemmed Ceylon Spinach (Basella alba). The leaves and the growing tips can be eaten raw in salads or lightly cooked (boiled, stir-fry, in stews, etc) Just like spinach.

Red-stemmed. This is ONE plant, growing out of the medium growbed, to make a curtain :) The ducks pick at it.

Green-stemmed.
