Coach,

Do you have it installed yet? If so is it all you want or do you wish you had more air?

Quick question. Since I am brand new to anything gardening. I was wondering how long will an open seed packet last (stay good for), in a Ziploc bag.

I keep mine in the fridge, once i open the packet i just double it over and put an elastic band over it,i think this stops condensation in the packet,i have just germinated seeds from a packet i bought in March 75% germination.
And i reckon the guy lovingly cupping that massive clutch of Toms is just taking the Pxxxxxss..... :laughing3:

I have a pair of these[back up should one fail] gives me 100lpm capacity, fantastic little pumps, the air filter i feel needs modifying as when it get dirty the pump starts getting hotter due to the restriction,on the to do list.I did away with the manifold and plumbed straight into 1/2 pipe to where they need to go then down to 6mm irrigation pipe for the stones.
They run 3 airlifts and 7 airstones with ease.

Dasboot,

One day the one taking the pics will be clutching a massive clutch of toms. And on your next post I see you said you have a pair but did not show them. What are they? And by the way thanks for the tip on using the fridge for open seed packs. :thumbright:

I was always told to keep them in a very dry place?

We have purchased discounted seed that has expired shelf life and the germination rate does decline but not by much.

That "bitter gourd" sounds interesting. It has some cool uses to the medical world its good for people who risk type 2 diabetes among other things.

Mine are installed and doing great. No complaints. I should re-manifold them so I can get more air to my DWC bed. I'm using the small 1/4" tubing, and it's too restrictive. I keep seeds in a dark closet inside and try and use them asap. There's a chart somewhere that gives germination times. Most are good for a year, some 2-3. Big thing is keeping them dry/cool. Fridge is good too.

I use a few 45l/min pumps looking just like those dasboot shows in the picture. One runs MBBR One runs raft and the third One is for my New MT. How much air are you pushing through your mt with air lifts dasboot?

FF, I don't think your calomondin will do well in an AP system. No firsthand experience with citrus in an AP system, but lots growing them in soil. They hate wet feet, which is why we used to have so many thousands of acres of them here in our dry, sandy loam soil. I could be wrong, if they were grown from an young plant(grafted cutting), you might be OK. I've never tried to put a larger potted plant in my AP. You would need to clean off all soil from roots and then hope it doesn't shock too much. I wicking bed would be great though.

Not sure, the two air pumps run in to a common manifold which is then shared throughout the system, with the airlift in the MT i turn up the air on the little regulator fitted until there is constantly solids in suspension, its two inch and this amount half fills the pipe with flow i timed it in at about 800 lph.
I am going to redo this airlift, the design is an octagon made from one inch pipe, there will be two T pieces facing each other with a cross piece, inserted into this will be the two 3/4 airlifts, elbows on the top to give me a circular flow, slots in the inch pipe completes the job.In all of my airlift trials the 3/4 airlifts have proved to be the most versatile and efficient, someone asked if i could do a video so that will be done soon, should show how everything airlift wise works.
