That is the nice thing about a clay rich soil. Most anything you dig retains it's shape. That doesn't work so well in the Fl sand.

Its nice to kneel on the edge and glue pipe without fear of collapse even when its soaked to hell.

Got more done today. The growbed frame was only needing minor leveling it looked like it needed more. Filled the trench and will be using pink granite for the grow media. Size is .75 - 1.5 inch. I also looked at some other granite (trap rock),but it was in the .5 and below and a dust mess. Large size was in the 3-5 inch.

Wanted to upload more pictures from today. I got 1 cubic yard of the crushed granite yesterday. I need just 1-2 cubic feet more.

Water levels after adding media.

pH ~ 7.8
NH3 ~ .5 .75
NO2 ~ 0
No3 ~ 0

My guess is the higher ammonia is from the algae that I killed off with the uv filter.

The plan with the bucket was to be able to make either bed Constant Flood, Separate Flood Drain or Synced Flood Drain using the bucket.

Problems so far.

- Round goes oval when pressure is on the sides
- Should have used 1.5" instead of 1" bulkheads
- Gravel guard may have needed more cuts
- 1" drain takes forever to empty out when pump is turned off

I moved 2 of my larger gold fish to the IBC. Frogs may be getting it on but so are the mosquitoes. I had turned down the flow into the IBC enough to not swamp the grow beds and it is a nice place to grow mosquitoes also.
