He doesn't mind, since he gets to eat the fish that I will feed with the larvae :thumbleft:

Jeez man, just don't drop a pipe fitting or a tool. That's a hell of a slope you've got there.

hehe.. yeah actually it used to be a slippery slide as it was all clay and loose rock... until I spent 3 months building 60 concrete steps 400x200 three at a time.. the fun part was no machinery could get in so I poured it all using two 20 litre buckets.. :dontknow:

Hey Tom,

Just wanted to know how your fly larvae farm is going? really like the look of it and would love to try something similar as flies are pretty much around year round here so would mean a constant supply of protein rich maggots to feed my very hungry fishies

Hi Rob,

I'm not out on the island at the moment so I havn't been able to check up on it.. last time I looked (about a week ago) it certainly had maggots in it but I didn't notice any black fly larvae yet (big maggots  ). Although my worm farm that I started at my appartment has lots of them.
I'm sure that the black fly larvae will show up soon since I have seen the fly's around.. hopefully the ramps inside are at the appropriate angle for them to migrate up... i read that up to 30 degrees is ok.
Ill update next weekend when I will probably be out there again :thumbleft:
Certainly is cheaper building one than buying it... although not as pretty or sturdy... but hey, its for growing maggots on rubbish.. nothing too pretty about that!

Update... :wave1:

Well my dad hasn't been putting enough food scraps in my black fly larvae box so it hasn't exactly exploded into action yet, But I did take the time on the weekend to build what i think is a clever catching container for the larvae...well...when/if there are any in the future :thumbright:
