To get 1 ppt you would need 1 kg (35 oz) of salt in every 1000L (264 Gallons)

9 lbs in 300 gallon would give you about 3.75 ppt. A bit high for most cases. Although ICH treatment may require you go this high.

So 3.75ppm doesn't sound good for the veggies. the strawb's are looking worse every day, some of the leaves are turning brown now, I guess part of the problem is the gutter I built and amount of water used, (thanks Rup and F&F) I will re configure it this weekend (prolly back into gravel with less water flow or into soil, and water manually with fish water, (see below))

My own observation with the other strawb plants from the same shipment
5- to my mother in potting soil (slower growth than mine)
5- to my friend in potting soil (slower growth than mine)
5- for my MIL in potting soil and watered with fish tank water (astounding growth much better than mine) these are in a pot in my GH for when she comes out to visit.

I forgot to mention, we did our first small harvest a few days ago! we picked some spinach for a salad and it tasted great! :D

I also got a great score today! 6 blue barrels from a ceramic manufacturer, he said they contained some kind of silicate ingredient used for production. price=FREE 8)

I like that price! I'm still looking for a barrel source, but I can't beat your price!

Stevo, I'm not surprised that your strawbs might be suffering while you salt dose......

If I remember rightly salt inhibits Potassium uptake...... strawbs, especially if they're starting to fruit, like lots Potassium.....

Just another thought.... I'll check on the Potassium thing....

Googled Salt Tolerance and found this link

http://www.wca-infonet.org/servlet/Bina ... 0_cl16.pdf

which suggests that you would lose half of your strawberries before your broccoli is affected.

Your greenhouse is great.
