I've read your whole thread and very impressed with what you've done.

I'm in Garfield and would like to visit if its possible... I'm just starting out and getting a bit overwhelmed at different systems etc.

I visited the Trout Farm at Noogee today and they quoted $3 for fish about 4" to 5" long... rainbow trout.

You would only have two or at the most three months to grow out your trout so they wouldn't bet very big.

Visited Jay's place today, I like his setup. Walking around his gardens its easy to see how he has evolved as a back (and front)yard farmer... he is running out of room though.

I'll probably just put some guppy's in my mini test setup for now.

Found a good way to suck goo out of the pipes.
A 40 mm uniseal pretty much fits perfectly down a 90mm pipe.
I use this to suck and plunge the crap up and out of my RFF bends and also the SLO - works a treat!

This guy was on the surface still swimming but had some trouble.

We made a net and caught him.
Was dramatic - but the kids got to see.

He was only small.
Really slimy

I think a result of overfeeding. Me thinking I'll feed them up before harvest.
Calculated my growbeds for 84g of feed - have been feeding 2 or 3 times that :(

Have stopped the feed, given the RFF a clean, Constant flood, 500g of salt - need to get way more.
PH 6 or below
ammonia 4
nitrite 0
Nitrate - Red

The fish will be safe to eat right ?

More shell grit?
I have 2 bags under the growbed inlets.
Ill but one more under the outlet.

PH rising is bad with ammonia though right?

Have added 2 more shell grit socks.
Constant flood over 2 days has cleared water up really good. Fish looking happy.

My kids loved the fish :)

Well after some crazy midnight emergency water changes and constant PH checking, I've harvested 5 fish who didn't make it.
Note to self - don't put too much of something in at one time (hydrated lime).
My PH went from 6.0 to 8.4.
I had to change the water out from the sump tanks and put fresh rain tank water in. I also added some salt.
