No media guards on either, the inlet is close to the bottom so as to trap caps if for whatever reason the flow went back that way and the outlet is just slotted.

This should be the last of the Grand Rapids,it worked well through the hot season up until now double seeded and harvested early,Kang Kong has taken the place of Mint,it loves AP hopefully keep this going to help with Nitrate control, when i decouple this will stay as part of the fish system.

In commercial operations, hormones are given to the fis to make the all males. Makes get bigger faster which means mo money in the end.

The hope is that by decoupling the systems,I can now feed to satiation as oppose to feeding to my Nitrate level and with all males hopefully meaning a more uniform growth among them, grading should be easier as I no longer have to remove the smaller females and at a claimed growth rate of 2% per day I should get more than one harvest per year.

DECOUPLING... great to hear someone is trying it.. :headbang:
I like the term.. it sounds technical..

How are you planing the divorce, and.are you also going the Zeolite way..
I am confident that there are other ways, but why spoil an existing good plan

We have been slavishly tied to the rules by those who lack imagination, but there is still a tipping point., I guess..

I have proved the concept and KNOW that it works.. I just don't know how FAR I could push it..
I suspect to even greater and significant.advantage..

The tedious mill-stone of balancing Nitrites will be gone, and whilst there are ways of using most of your waste nutrients, there seems to be so little value, when you can get so much from worm farms.etc... anyway..
I am thinking of ditching the Mineralisation and just "settle" the solids and drain the clear to the grow system, and dump the.solids in the worm.farms..
..
:flower: .

About 9pm yesterday we had the mother of all storms my plastic cover, now over three years old didnt stand a chance as you can see,the plastic frame just came apart so as soon as it stops raining i can make a start at putting it all back together. But everything is flooded,my new sump which the sealer has to cure for seven days, withe the huge amount of rain it bent a depression in the plastic which then just allowed it to get deeper and deeper until it feil through, the system has overflowed as it has rained constantly at a heavy old rate.

dasboot,
Man that is a tough break... :support:

I imagine your plants took a beating. Did they mostly survive?
Your fish are still all under the house, right? So those probably rode it out okay.
Hopefully everyone else in your family survived okay.

Too bad more of us don't live nearby. I'm sure a lot of us wish we could help clean
up the mess and get things cooking again as quickly as possible.

Sorry to see the greenhouse take a beating Andreas. If you see the plastic start doing that when you're around, you can take something like a push broom and push the spot up to drain the water or if you can't do that, poke one or more holes in it - beats the hell out of replacing the structure and with some luck the plastic can be patched :dontknow: .

I knew the storm was on its way but not the severity,my greenhouses/tunnel was damaged but not a patch on some of the other properties around me. When the first of the storm hit I opened the shutters to see what was going on,at this time the wind was very strong and the rain horizontal,as I watched the first part of the plastic ripped then flew up into the air, this extra force then broke three 3/4 plastic hoops which then allowed more plastic and cover to fly up Into the air.At this point I knew all was lost I shut the shutters sat down and turned up the TV,then the power went out, candles are so romantic but not when your thinking just how bad your green house is.
It has rained for over 24 hours,I am tired of being wet,my new sumo which shouldn't have had any water in it until cured has been dried out twice,my system has been overflowed twice,i am Pissed right off,so it's time for a beer or two..... :thumbright:
