Wow. You really want it to be guaranteed super productive at that kind of investment. I guess its all relative though (to how rich you are)

I consider it as an investment in the future. At a minimum, I estimate I can produce over $3,000 in product from it a year, it covers the cost in around 10 years.

But if it was enclosed in a greenhouse, that would be awesome!

My grandfather use to have several large commercial greenhouses to grow African violets. One of them had an in-gound pool. It was like summer year-round in there. He kept the temp in the high 70's!

Damn you Rob.. Or thou I think you might like this..

Image
One of the setups I visited.. Three sister, Oregon....

Image
Image
Rob some of the fish in there are close if not over 36" and the big girls weigh in at 7kg+
There are some really nice fish in there..
the pond is about 4m wide about 12m
about 12ft at the deep end and 8ft at the shallow end..
Augusta, Colorado region.. at about 6-7000ft..
they get visits from the local bears and can have anything from 2-8ft of snow on the ground..
Temps inside can be as high as 70+, but that is not health for the females they need to be fasted for about 4-6weeks to help them reabsorb any eggs they have not spawned with..

Ok the Nexus is Hooked up to Keep the media alive.. that is the outside pond Filter..

4 Bottom Drains.. [Aerated dome's]
2 skimmers..

6 Cetus sieves to Remove solids..
3 Bead filters.. 2 in the filter Pit under the Bakki showers
-- 3rd Bead filter in the corner behind the nexus..

2 Showers with foam scoops.. [This is to add extra air to the system..]

System runs a huge amount of water thru the filtration something like 30-40k per hr.. Plus there is about 2k of Spring/well feed water every day..

fish load is about 30-50 large Koi..

the rubber maid tanks on the side are actually the fry tanks..
he takes water directly from the pond and dumps the overflow back into the pond so they fry are on the same water as the adult's..
Last season he produced about 40-50 quality Koi at 12+ in a Growing season..
- he has a demand for his Fish and I'm waiting for the site to go up showing what the new fish[9-12mth's] old fish..

Yes Todd has some very nice fish...

And yes I have suggested AP to him..

Juergen

Psst Last time I talked to Todd he said something about waiting for a Pallet Load of food..
He feeds heavy... which would explain his growth rates..
