Doesn't really sound like it's worth mucking around with seedlings given having to wash the dirt off and how much they cost compared to seeds, if seeds are going to germinate so well in this system :D

I agree, didn't expect an instant response from the seeds, they were ones I dried from last seasons batch

Direct seeding has worked fine for me, the quick growth probably offsets any size difference from transplanting, especially since the plant will be shocked for awhile from the transplant. I like direct seeding because I wonder if different genes kick in depending on where the seed initially starts - like it is better to start the plants where they will be grown out rather than starting them in a different environment then forcing them to reprogram themselves mid-life-cycle.

Next Spring I plan to dedicate some grow bed space to the reverse process, growing up seedlings to be transplanted out to the dirt, rather than from dirt to ap. I had about a dozen tomato plants in a square foot area, and I had to trash them because it is too late in the year for them to continue.

Looks just like the mid-west in Spring. Are you piloting Ell?

Aww Dave. First fish I ever killed i actually put the spade to it after nursing it back to health three times. Just a sick fish, y'know.

So I gave it a proper burial in the garden planting some silverbeet to commemorate the spot which grew exceptionally well I might add.

Ell, you are truly insane. Or is it genius?

They say there's a fine line between genius and madness. You see a man playing guitar well - talented! Guitar and harmonica together - genius! BUT! Go that one step further and put cymbals on his knees.

You'll cross the road to avoid him. :)

Love the new avatar Ell and the system looks great - what makes AP so addictive is that you can go as little or as big as you want but as a newbie my advice to all other newbies is just do it!! :newb: a couple of plastic containers a pump a couple of fish and some gravel and your on your way
