Just a picture of the bees which use the GB as a watering hole... can't see them ever on the flowers, just drinking... lazy things... true territorians :D and a spot of vibrant color between masses of tomato and cucumber flowers... marigold

So, I just had to switch back to my old aerator as the DC motor of the Hailea ACO-003 Air compressor went up in flames... :-( not even 2 months in operation. Maybe I should try a 240 volt version on an inverter. Let's see whether I get warranty on it...

No, the aquariumshop.com.au but I just looked at boyu... Prices are much better, could have bought 3 pumps for the same price... :-(

Any personal experience with this shop?

Thanks skeggley, just found the link on their homepage where you get to Aquariumwholesale and no contact information and so on. So I won't be buying there.

Cheers

Not this page, aquariumwholesale and boyu-australia, contact number is just 0 and no business information. I think I have seen another shop which links to aquariumwholesale.

Unfortunately after some mayor system maintenance (removed unproductive tomato bushes which a storm had damaged in a couple of spots and replanting of tomatoes, beans and some other greens) I discovered 2 dead barramundi and they must have been dead since a while and stuck under the pipe work judging by the state and odour. One per tank the smaller one (170mm) was half eaten and the larger one (270mm) mainly intact but decaying.

I think I have to do something on the bottom SLO pipe, it was 10mm of the bottom when I put it in but the fishes are always trying to squeeze through sideways.

The weekly water test gave me a reading of 7.0 / 0.25 / 2 / 5-10 at 30 to 32 degrees Celsius.

I have already salt in the system but I added another 0.5 ppt which might have been lost through solid removals. I would feel better with the air compressor instead of the diaphragm air pump but the output is basically the same just lower pressure (and it looks less ;-) ).

I am wondering how deep the footings are for your shipping container? I live at Berry Springs and have a container on little drums but my wife is concerned about it tipping over in a strong wind, even though it's full of stuff.

How deep are the footings on your container. I'm at berry springs and my container is on blocks but the wife is always concerned this time of year that it'll blow away in a storm. I'm look at setting up a Ap system but just gathering ideas and supplies

sorry nedsrest

I must have missed your first post. welcome to the forum. ;-)

they are 600mm in diameter and 800mm deep, I have taken the measurements of the engineering drawings of my house and thought if it is good enough for the house, it will be good enough for the container. I had it sitting on 8 of 1 ton concrete blocks first, but they started sinking into the ground after a while, so when the container went into its final position I wanted to do it right!

at the moment I have big problems with heat and mealy bugs, the new tomato bushes have grown quick but only have a couple of fruit and start to loose some branches at the bottom. I am looking forward to the dry... only another 5 months... :-D

let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

cheers

Got a call from aquariumshop.com.au and it looks good regarding the warranty replacement of the air compressor. No water inside as expected but the motor kind of disintegrated for whatever reason.

I need to have a look for what else I need from this shop to build a more reliable aeration.
