I have to say I am in a bit of a funk. I made two growbeds from Plywood 3/4" with 1" auto siphons. I set one up over the fish tank and filled with water to see if it would hold and id did well except the plastic liner had a very small leak. The nearest hardware store is 15 miles away so I was a bit (a lot) up set that I was sold a liner with a hole. so I got out the handy tube of Permatex silicone and it would not stick to that. So I will have to go to plan b.

I bought a can of roofing sealer just up the street. They recommended pputing 1 coat of the sealer and then covering with polyester cloth before it dries so it will stick to the coating. When that was done, I then gave the whole thing another coat of the sealer. It actually looks good and in theory it should work, but it is not cheap and is a lot of hard messy work. It is drying now. I am going with the family to the beach for a couple of days so I will check it when I get back on the 4th of Jan.

So for now, still using the temporary system. The tomatoes are about 2 inches high, the cilantro the same. Still no sign of the lettuce after two weeks. might be a batch of bad seed. Water is doing well and is stable. Still dreaming of having the big growbeds up and running so I can buy another 150 tilapia.

Hi DTHawk:
Happy New Year!

So the gravel sits on this roofing sealer? I would be worried about the stuff in the sealer, it might not be very edible.

Just be careful of anything it it for anti-mould. That is the poisonous stuff. I was thinking while reading, you could put the other sealer over top of old sealer if needed.
