Yes they are the 580s I’m addicted to them! I went to work today and realized that I had left them at home and drove 26 miles round trip to go and get them.

Here is an aerial photo to give a better idea as to the layout on my home made system.

What kind of fish is this?

The 580's are Costa Del Mar sunglasses. When people brag about how their sunglasses are the best, it is just because they havent tried the Costas. Or they are talking about their Costas. Stucco, you must spend a lot of time on the water, you have the right sunglasses, and are ceviche savy.

Sorry about that, the quote you quoted made no mention of fish, so I just wanted to make sure you knew that we were not talking about some strange new fish that that only had a number because it came from a test tube. :thumbleft:

I quoted the one with the fish hanging from the fish scale, but the pic did not come through. Not sure what I did wrong.

I did the math on the hydroton today. We are up to 112 50 litter bags. The 12 bags I came home with on Monday didn’t seem the same- size wise, so I made a comparison with the original stuff I got four years ago. The older stuff is twice the size on average. I wonder what happened.

There are two grades of hydroton... based on size.... can't remember the size ranges for both grades offhand... but you've definitely got the smaller grade...

I wonder what effect on root growth the smaller hydroton has, as there is less air space with smaller spheres? The smaller stuf is what I see around town here. When I first saw it I thought " it looks smaller in real life..." all of the pics and documentaries I saw of it must have been the larger grade. I'm still open to the idea of using it on top of the GB's I intend to replant often. That is given I can aford it when I am ready.

The smaller stuff should have more surface area for bacteria, shouldn't it?
