The motorcycle, or the floor jack? Or are they equally important. Also the Gander Mountain outdoors store bag - getting more toys of a different sort....

Nice "rang" Stevo, can you throw it?

I love boomerangs, thrown them for years and probably have 2-3 dozen of them, all different shapes and sizes.. Nothing like taking your brave mates out to the park when it's dark after a couple of beers to toss the boomerang with an LED and a little glow stick on it. If you're not used to it many people don't know which way to run, people ducking and diving, swearing and cursing.. It's even scarier doing it without lights, on a dark night...

(on saturday)3 weeks in so far, I think that 40g of cycled water really sped things along,

PH- 7.6
NH4- .25ppm (down)
NO2- 2 (steady)
NO3- 20ppm (on the rise)

It seems that I am almost cycled, some of the plants are really starting to shoot up (almost on a daily basis)
So with the nitrates on the rise I decided to plant the remaining beds. I went to the garden shop and got what I needed and asked them about a small problem with my strawberries ( they had some leaves withpurplish/brown near the edges) he said they needed potash. I remembered that my kelp meal contains potash.

I had added some kelp meal 3 weeks ago on initial start up with absolutely no effect on my fish what so ever, so before I did this second planting, I took about a half cup and sprinkled it over the beds and churned up the gravel to mix it in. I had hoped to help the strawberries and ease the shock of transplanting the new plants after disturbing the root system during cleaning.

BAD,BAD,BAD, after everything was planted and the pump cycled a couple times, the tank water went green like an algae bloom and the fish stopped swimming! time for my very first HSM
I immediately did a 50% water change then ran 2 pump cycles. then repeated with another 50% change. the water cleared up and fish started to perk up and eat, I only lost one 2" goldfish through this ordeal.

I GUESS TOO MUCH KELP MEAL CAN BE DANGEROUS, DRY OR TEA!

Now I have an ICH problem (possibly helped by the drastic temp drop from the water changes) so I have been adding kosher salt in increments to get to the 0.3% level (3lbs every 12hs for a total of 9 lbs for my 300g tank)

Things started off great and went down the crapper. if I only would have left the strawberries be, I would have been fine. :banghead:
I hope I didn't just destroy my bacteria with these water changes, I'm afraid to check my levels to find out how dessamated they are.
